Alvesco contains the active ingredient Ciclesonide. It is used to prevent and reduce the symptoms (wheezing and shortness of breath) caused by asthma. Controlling asthma symptoms may decrease time lost from school and work, it works by reducing the swelling of the airways in the lungs to make breathing easier. This medication should be taken regularly to be effective. It does not work right away and should not be used to relieve sudden asthma attacks.

This medication is prescribed to control persistent asthma in adults and adolescent patients (12 years and more). It helps you to breathe more easily by decreasing the symptoms of your asthma and by lessening the chance of an asthma attack. The effect builds up over a period of time, so this medication needs to be taken everyday even if you are feeling well.
This medication is not suitable for use in an acute attack of breathlessness. For quick relief from such attacks, use only your reliever inhaler.

When Alvesco should not be used?

If you find that you have to use your inhaler more than 2 -3 times a week, then you should contact your health care specialist to have your medicine reviewed.
Missed dose of Alvesco
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember, if it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your usual dosing schedule. Don’t double the dose to catch up the previous one.
How Alvesco should be stored?
Store at room temperature away from sunlight and moisture. Keep all the medicines away from the children and pets. Do not freeze. Do not store in bathroom or kitchen (warm places).
