Besix Eye Drop 0.6% w/v
Besix Eye Drop 0.6% is a liquid ophthalmic solution that contains Besifloxacin as an active pharmaceutical ingredient. Besilofloxacin treats a wide range of bacterial infections which are highly infectious and contagious such as conjunctivitis (infection of the outer white membrane of an eyeball) having the symptoms like pink/red eyes, gritty feeling in the eye, itching of an eye, teary eyes and thick discharge around the eye. It shows its action by inhibiting the synthesis of certain enzymes essential for bacterial cell survival and thus killing the infection-causing bacteria and treating bacterial eye infections.
How to use (infographics and instructions)
Besix eye drop is intended for external use only should be administered into the eye. Your doctor should decide the time duration of this antibiotic medicine. One should follow the proper instructions while taking this medication.
- Always remember to wash your hands properly before and after the use of this medication.
- Hold the dropper just above the eye and squeeze out a prescribed amount of drop without touching directly to the eye surface.
- If the dropper touched an infected eye while instilling the medication, immediately squeeze out some drops and wipe out the tip with salt water to resist contamination.
- Tighten the cap just after use.
- Don’t rub your eye immediately after use.
- After instillation close your eyes for some seconds and then open it slowly.
- Wipe out the extra medicine(if any) from your face.

Besix eye drop is an antibiotic medicine; it is to be used only on the recommendation of your doctor to avoid resistance. Avoid taking this medicine if you are allergic to Besifloxacin or any other ingredients present in the formulation. One should follow the instructions given by your doctor, do not stop taking this medicine until your prescribed period is over, even if you have improved symptoms. Remember to discuss your allergies and medical history with your doctor, like any disease or medicines you have been taking before. Do not wear lenses while taking this medicine. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or a breastfeeding mother; your doctor will decide if it is safe to use in such patients. It is not recommended for children below 1 year of age. It may cause blurred vision for some time; hence avoid driving and using machinery after using this medication. It is not advised on those with an eye infection caused by viruses, fungi, or mycobacteria. Avoid going out in direct sunlight; if it's urgent, wear sunglasses.
Side effects of Besix eye drop 0.6%
Besix eye drop reported no such serious side effects. Although in some cases, it may experience some common side effects such as eye irritation, eye redness, blurred vision, pain while instilling. Usually, it may not require any medical assistance, but consult your doctor if any of these and other signs of allergy persist in avoiding any mishappening.
