Many effective eye drops are available to treat glaucoma, which is defined by elevated internal eye pressure, called intraocular pressure. Medicated ophthalmic solutions are formulated to be used twice daily to lower internal pressure and prevent optic nerve damage.
Bimatoprost is a pharmaceutical ingredient that reduces elevated pressure (IOP) in patients with ocular hypertension and open-angle glaucoma. A synthetic prostamide analog exerts its mode of action by mimicking the effects of naturally occurring chemical prostanoids. The active ingredient has been demonstrated to lower intraocular pressure by increasing the outflow of aqueous fluid secreted by the eye.
The action of Bimatoprost:
Bimatoprost is a saturated fatty acid similar to hormones. It is supplied as an active ingredient in eye drops to treat glaucoma. The Careprost bimatoprost solution is instilled into the eye to help maintain the balance of the inflow and outflow of ocular fluid. The active agent accelerates intraocular pressure reduction and reduces eye pressure. It is an ideal option to lower raised pressure within your eyes.
Many people call this a cosmetic ingredient and often use it to increase the length of their eyelashes.
Adverse effects of Bimatoprost ophthalmic solution
In clinical trials, adverse effects occurring in approximately 15% to 45% of patients included the following:

- Conjunctival hyperemia
Some rare adverse effects include the following:
