Out of the many medications used in fertility treatment, the most important is human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG). It is sold under various brand names, including Novarel 5000. Because brands like Novarel are costlier, many people buy generic versions like Fertigyn, Corion, Zyhcg, Ovidac 5000, etc. Let’s explore the generic alternatives for Novarel 5000 below.

Novarel alternatives

Generic alternatives usually cost less than branded medications because they don’t have to repeat clinical trials. Branded medications like Novarel have been tested for safety and effectiveness. Generic versions like Fertigyn, Corion, Ovidac, and ZyHCG are cheaper and, at the same time, adhere to the same quality standards. This is why many people worldwide switch to these alternatives for a better health experience.

About Novarel (HCG)

All Novarel alternatives contain HCG, a hormone used as a fertility medication to develop eggs in women who are unable to get pregnant because of problems in ovulation. HCG is also beneficial for men with lower sperm counts to release more sperm and is used when the testes have not dropped down in the scrotum, which is due to pituitary gland problems. The action of HCG is almost the same as that of luteinizing hormone (LH), a hormone produced by the pituitary gland. It is the same hormone produced by the placenta in pregnancy. The medication has different uses for females and males.

In women,  HCG injections are given to help conception occur. It is usually given in combination with other medications, such as menotropins and urofollitropin. Many females being treated with other medications usually have already tried clomiphene alone and have not been able to conceive yet. HCG is also used in in vitro fertilization (IVF) programs.

In males, LH and chorionic gonadotropin stimulate the testes to produce male hormones such as testosterone. Testosterone contributes to the enlargement of the penis and testes, as well as the growth of pubic and underarm hair. It also causes an increase in the production of sperm. Although HCG has been used to help some patients lose weight, it should never be used this way. When used inappropriately, chorionic gonadotropin can cause serious problems.

Dosage and administration

The dosage regimen prescribed in any particular case will depend upon the indication for use, the age and weight of the patient, and the doctor’s preference.

  1. HCG can give rise to serious allergic reactions, such as anaphylaxis, that can be deadly and require immediate medical attention. Speak to your doctor immediately if you have a cough, trouble swallowing, chest tightness, itching, skin rash, hives, puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, tiredness, or weakness.
