Dosage and administration
Ofloxacin eye drops dosage for adults may vary depending on the condition being treated, but general guidelines include the following:
Bacterial conjunctivitis:
- For the first 2 days, instill 1 to 2 drops in the affected eye(s) every 2 to 4 hours
- Then, reduce to 4 times daily for the next 5 days.
Keratitis:
- For the first 2 days, instill 1-2 drops into the affected eye(s) every 30 minutes while awake.
- From day 3 to day 7, instill 1-2 drops every hour while awake. Instill 1-2 drops 4 times a day after a weekuntil the infection is fully cleared.
Corneal ulcers:
- Instill 1-2 drops every 30 minutes while awake for the first 2 days.
- On days 3 to 7, reduce the frequency to every hour while awake.
- After day 7, reduce to 4 times daily until treatment is complete.
Blepharitis:
- Instill 1-2 drops into the affected eye(s) 2 to 4 times daily for 7 to 10 days, depending on the severity of the infection.
- In more severe cases, your doctor may recommend using the drops every 2 hours for the first 1-2 days and then reducing the frequency as symptoms improve.
For Post-surgical eye infections
- 1-2 drops into the operated eye(s) 4 times daily, starting 24 hours before surgery and continuing for 5-7 days after the procedure.
