A Ret Gel (Tretinoin Gel USP) What is Tretinoin Gel USP?

Tretinoin Gel USP generic A Ret Gel  is a form of vitamin A that is prescribed for the treatment of acne. It helps lower the number of acne pimples and reduce their severity as well as helps in quick healing of acne. Tretinoin Gel USP is marketed and sold under various trade names across the world, a couple of which are Retin A and A Ret (made by Shalaks Pharma). Tretinoin Gel USP may also be prescribed for treatments of conditions other than those listed above.

Important Information about Tretinoin Gel

 While using Tretinoin Gel USP (Retin A, A Ret), your skin may become sensitive to sunlight and UV radiation. Therefore, you must avoid unnecessary exposure to sunlight and artificial UV rays (tanning beds or sunlamps). If you do venture out in the sun, use a good sunscreen and wear protective clothing. Don’t let Tretinoin Gel USP topical medication come in contact with the delicate parts of your face like eyes, nose, or lips. Wash them thoroughly with water if they are exposed to the medication accidently. Do not use Tretinoin Gel USP topical medication on sunburned, wind burned, irritated, dry, peeled, or scaly skin as well as on wounds or eczema affected area. Apply Tretinoin Gel USP only after the area is completely healed of the condition. It may take several weeks for Tretinoin Gel USP to show any visible effects. Keep using the medicine as prescribed. In fact, your acne may get worse for a short period in the initial days of using this medicine. Notify your doctor immediately if your skin condition becomes severe and you acne doesn’t improve within 2 to three months. A Ret Gel formulation is flammable. Always store Tretinoin Gel USP medication in a cool and dry place away from heat and flames. Ensure that your children and pets don’t have access to the medication.

Before applying Tretinoin Gel 

Don’t use Tretinoin Gel USP (Retin A, A Ret) if you have a known allergy to it. Consult your doctor first and ask him or her if it’s safe to use Tretinoin Gel USP medication if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant or nursing a baby. This drug can pass into breast milk and harm your child.

How should I use Tretinoin Gel ?

Strictly use Tretinoin Gel USP (Retin A, A Ret) as prescribed by your doctor. Do not alter the dosage under any circumstances unless or otherwise advised by your doctor. Also use this medication only for the prescribed period. Ensure proper hygiene while using Tretinoin Gel USP topical medication. Prior to application, clean and dry the affected area. Any moisture combined with this medication may cause some irritation. Tretinoin Gel USP is used once daily during bedtime. The treated area shouldn’t be washed for at least 1 hour after applying the Tretinoin Gel USP medication. Avoid other skin products within one hour after applying the medication. Use of excessive Tretinoin Gel USP gel may lead to pilling of the medication which can be compensated by applying a thin layer of the gel in the next dose.

What if miss a dose of Tretinoin Gel ?

Remember to use administer dose and never miss a dose of any medicine. However, if you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember it. Skip the missed dose if it is already time for the next dose and continue with your prescribed schedule.

What if I Overdose on Tretinoin Gel USP?

Get immediate medical attention if you think that you have used a very high quantity of Tretinoin Gel USP, though it is not expected to cause any overdose symptoms or reactions.

Serious side effects of Tretinoin Gel USP are unlikely but always be careful and alert. Some less serious and common side effects of Tretinoin Gel USP include burning sensation, itching, redness, dryness, peeling, irritation, or color changes in skin. The side effects mentioned above are not the only ones which you may experience due to Tretinoin Gel USP.

Tretinoin Gel USP Dosing Information

Use the appropriate amount of Tretinoin Gel USP gel as prescribed by your doctor. Don’t change the dosage under any circumstances. Usual dosage of Tretinoin Gel USP is once per day normally before bedtime or as directed by your doctor.

Interaction with other Drugs

Do not use skin products which have benzoyl peroxide, sulfur, resorcinol, or salicylic acid, unless or otherwise advised by your doctor These products can lead to severe skin irritation if used along with Tretinoin Gel USP topical medication. Inform your doctor if you are using any of the following medications as they may interact with Tretinoin Gel USP and make your skin more sensitive to natural and artificial light: diuretics, tetracycline, certain antibiotics like ofloxacin or ciprofloxacin; sulfa drugs like Bactrim, Cotrim, or others; fluphenazine; perphenazine; or promethazine.
