Contiflo D 0.5/0.4mg

Contiflo D is prescribed to people with BPH for improving urination. Due to the enlargement of the prostate gland, the neck of the bladder gets obstructed, and urination becomes difficult and painful in men. Contiflo D combines two active substances Tamsulosin and Dutasteride; together, they help relax the smooth muscle in the bladder, thus opening the passage of the urinary bladder and easing urination.

What are the benefits of Contiflo D?

Combination therapy with dutasteride and Tamsulosin provides significantly greater benefit than monotherapy for various patients with moderate to severe lower urinary tract symptoms due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and prostate enlargement. BPH is a major cause of lower urinary tract symptoms, urinary tract infections and urinary retention (when your bladder doesn’t empty all the way). Contiflo D relieve symptoms such as difficulty urinating r needing to visit the toilet more often. The medicine is effective when used under a doctor’s supervision. The combination medicine shrinks prostate size by lowering testosterone levels. This helps lower urinary tract symptoms. Do not discontinue treatment even if you see improvement in your condition. If you stop using Dutasteride/Tamsulosin too early, the symptoms may return or worsen.

How to use Contiflo D?

Contiflo D capsules containing 0.5 mg dutasteride and 0.4 mg tamsulosin are hard-shell capsules. The usual dose is one capsule taken once daily, approximately half an hour after the same meal each day. Swallow the capsule with water. Do not chew or open the capsule as contact with the capsule's contents may result in irritation of the throat.

What precautions should be taken?

Contiflo D can be excreted in semen; therefore, a condom is recommended. Women should avoid handling Tamsulosin/Dutasteride.

The combination medicine can cause dizziness. It can cause a sudden fall in blood pressure while standing from a lying or a sitting position. The sudden drop in blood pressure can give rise to dizziness, fainting, lightheadedness, the sensation of spinning and vertigo. If you feel dizzy, do not drive, operate machines, or do other dangerous activities when initiating treatment with the combination medicine until you know how it affects you. You should avoid donating blood while taking this medicine or for six months after you have stopped the medication. This is important to prevent pregnant females from getting the medicine through blood transfusion.
