Ivabrand 7.5 mg (Ivabradine)
Ivabradine is formulated for the symptomatic treatment of chronic stable angina pectoris in patients who are in sinus rhythm and can’t take beta blockers or have an intolerance to beta blockers. Its active component Ivabradine is a novel and useful addition to the class of anti-ischemic medications. The medicine works to lower the heart rate, which is helpful in treating both angina and heart failure. By slowing the heart rate, the heart needs oxygen, thereby minimizing the risk of an angina attack to develop. This is extremely useful at times when angina would be more likely to occur, such as during an exercise session or times of other physical work.
What is Ivabrand used for?
Ivabrand is a medicine available for the management of patients with angina pectoris, but it should only be taken when your symptoms are not controlled with optimized gold standard anti-ischemic therapy.
How does Ivabrand work?
Reduction of heart rate is an important part managing patients with coronary artery disease. Ivabrand allows a simultaneous reduction in oxygen demand and an increase in oxygen supply as well as redistribution of myocardial blood flow. Ivabradine, the active ingredient of the medicine works by inhibiting the If current, which regulates the intrinsic pacemaker activity in the sinoatrial node. The heart rhythm is slowed accordingly.
