Levipil 750mg (Levetiracetam tablet)

Levipil contains 750 mg of Levetiracetam in a film-coated tablet used to treat seizures. Levetiracetam is an antiepileptic medicine used on its own in adults and adolescents from 16 years of age with newly diagnosed epilepsy. Levipil is effective in treating epilepsy in which the fits initially affect only one side of the brain but eventually extend to larger areas on both sides of the brain.

Levetiracetam or Levipil 750 has been given to you by your doctor to reduce the number of fits. It is highly effective for treating partial seizures in people four years of age and older with epilepsy. Levipil treats myoclonic seizures in people 12 years of age and older. Your doctor may prescribe it to treat primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures in people six years of age and older. However, the effectiveness and safety of the drug have not been established in children under four year of age. Before taking this medicine, make sure you have discussed with your doctor if the medicine is suitable for you or not.

How to use (infographics and instructions)

Follow the directions given on your prescription. Your doctor will decide how much Levetiracetam to take and when to take it. You may take the tablet before or after consuming food. Swallow the tablet without breaking or crushing it. Your doctor can only change your dose. Do not make any changes to your dosing regimen without your doctor’s approval. Do not drive, operate the machine, or indulge in other dangerous activities until you know how the antiseizure drug affects you. Stopping an antiseizure drug-like Levipil 750mg can cause a condition status epilepticus (a condition in which seizures will not stop).

If you have suicidal thoughts, visit your doctor, he/she will check for other causes as suicidal tendencies can be caused by things other than medicines. If you miss a dose, take it when you remember. But, if it is almost time to take the next dose, skip the missed one. Take your doses at the regular time exactly the way your doctor has told you. Overdosing can be harmful; call your doctor if you develop certain health complications after taking too much of your antiepileptic drug.

Precautions (warning, allergy, things to remember)

Tell your doctor before taking Levipil 750mg tablets if you suffer from kidney problems. Follow your doctor’s instructions; he/she may alter your dose—deprivation in your child’s growth rate. A small number of people receiving Levetiracetam therapy may have thoughts of harming themselves or have suicidal behaviour. If you have symptoms of depression or have suicidal thoughts, please speak to your doctor. You should inform your doctor if symptoms such as abnormal thoughts, irritability, or if you are reacting more aggressively than usual, or your loved ones and friends notice unusual changes in your behaviour. The antiepileptic drug is not suitable for adults and children below 16 years on its own. Tell your doctor if you are using any other medicines. Make sure you do not take a medicine used as a laxative during the treatment. You must talk to your doctor if you have already been prescribed a laxative. Make sure you visit your doctor for scheduled follow-up treatment. Speak to your doctor straight away if you are worried about any unusual signs associated with the condition or your medicine.

Side Effects of Levipil 750 mg

The most side effects experienced by people who take Levetiracetam are weakness, dizziness, sleepiness, and infection. Common side effects reported in children who take Levipil tablets are irritability, hostility, and accidental injury. These adverse effects can happen at any time but specifically common within the first four weeks of treatment. Inform your doctor straight away if any side effect bothers you or does not resolve within a few days.

Levipil 750mg tablet can cause side effects some life-threatening complications. Call your doctor straight away if you experience anger, anxiety, mood swings, aggression, agitation, or depression. A few may develop hallucination, delusions, and unusual behaviour. Weakness, tiredness, extreme sleepiness, weakness, and problems with muscle coordination are also associated with Levetiracetam. Pay attention to any behavioural changes, thoughts, or feelings.
