Mesacol CR 500mg
Mesacol CR 500 mg for oral administration is a controlled-release formulation of mesalamine, an anti-inflammatory agent for gastrointestinal use. It treats adult patients with mild to moderately active ulcerative colitis. The medicine should also be taken with food.
In ulcerative colitis
Ulcerative colitis is a large intestine and rectum disorder where the bowel lining appears red and swollen. This may contribute to bleeding, abdominal pain, and frequent diarrhoea. Mesacol controlled release tablet helps relieve these symptoms and helps you stay well by preventing them from returning.
In Crohn’s disease
Crohn’s disease is a long-term anti-inflammatory disease of the intestines. The most common symptoms are pain in your abdomen and diarrhoea. Mesacol CR tablet helps reduce inflammation, relieve symptoms, and prevent them from returning.
Mesacol contains the active ingredient Mesalazine, which suppresses the production of chemical messengers that cause swelling in the intestines. This reduces stomach pain, bleeding, and ulceration, preventing future disease flare-ups.
How to use
Your doctor will recommend the most suitable dose for you. The dose usually depends on what you are being treated for. You should keep taking the tablet for as long as it is prescribed to you. Early treatment discontinuation may cause your symptoms to come back and your condition to worsen. You need to take Mesacol CR to get the most out of it and drink plenty of fluids while taking this medicine to ensure you stay hydrated.
