Oncotrex 5mg
Oncotrex 5mg is a medicine that helps reduce certain medical conditions cause to your body. It contains the active ingredient Methotrexate, a disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug, which helps reduce the immune system's activity for people with severe rheumatoid arthritis, including juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and severe psoriasis.
The immune system normally protects the body from infections by causing inflammation to fight them. Inflammation can cause heat, redness, swelling, and pain. But in some conditions, the immune system can attack parts of the body, such as the joints, by mistake, causing inflammation. Methotrexate works by killing cells in the skin that grows too quickly.
How to use
Methotrexate can be taken as a tablet. Follow your doctor’s advice when it comes to taking this medicine. The dose and duration will depend on the condition that is being treated. Do not take more than the prescribed amount.
To treat severe psoriasis, and severe rheumatoid arthritis, including juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, Oncotrex should be taken weekly, not daily. This weekly dose is taken either at one time or in several doses. Talk to your doctor immediately for further instructions if you get dehydrated (or lose too much body fluids). This can happen if you are sick and have a fever, vomiting, and diarrhoea. Dehydration can also occur when you get excessive sweating with activities or exercise and don’t drink enough fluids. Discontinue treatment immediately if you get diarrhoea or develop sores in your mouth. Speak to your doctor right away. If you continue to take Oncotrex with these symptoms, you could experience bleeding or tearing of your digestive tract.
Precautions
Do not take Oncotrex 5 mg if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Methotrexate can cause congenital disabilities or even death to your unborn child. Avoid breastfeeding, as this medicine can harm your baby. You must decide between breastfeeding or taking Methotrexate, not both. You should not take this medicine if you have medical conditions that weaken your immune system, have bone marrow that does not make enough blood cells, have chronic liver disease, or drink alcohol.
Side effects
Oncotrex can cause serious and life-threatening problems, including liver damage, kidney damage, lymph system cancer, severe skin reactions, lung disorders, serious anaemia, low blood cells and platelets in your blood, opportunistic infections, soft tissue, and bone damage.
The most common side effects of Oncotrex include mouth sores, diarrhoea, vomiting, nausea, upset stomach, hair loss, feeling poorly, low white blood cells, chills, fever, tiredness, dizziness, a higher chance of getting an infection, and easy bruising.
Stop taking methotrexate formulation and speak to your doctor immediately if you get a fever, mouth sores, cough, shortness of breath, dehydration, diarrhoea, a skin rash, or any signs of infection. Please talk to your doctor if you have any questions regarding these or other side effects. These are not all the possible side effects of Methotrexate.
