Risnia 2mg
Risnia is prescribed for the acute and maintenance treatment of schizophrenia in adults. In adolescents aged 13 to 17 years, it is indicated for the treatment of schizophrenia. As monotherapy in adults and adolescents aged 10 to 17 years, Risnia is prescribed for the short-term treatment of acute manic or mixed episodes associated with Bipolar I disorder.
It can also be given to treat irritability associated with autistic disorder in children and adolescents aged 5 to 16 years, including symptoms of aggression towards others, temper tantrums, deliberate self-injuriousness, and rapid mood changes. The medicine contains the active ingredient Risperidone, an antipsychotic medication that affects the levels of chemicals such as dopamine and serotonin to improve mood, thoughts and behaviour.
How to use
Risnia can be used one or two times a day. The initial recommended dose is 2 mg per day. Your doctor may increase your dose at intervals not less than 24 hours, increments of 1 to 2 mg per day as tolerated, to a tolerated recommended dose of 4 to 8 mg per day. The treatment is usually maintained at a dose of 2 mg to 8 mg per day. Doctors usually reassess their patients to determine the need to maintain a nice treatment with an appropriate dose. For adolescents, doses should be initiated at 1 mg once daily, administered as a single daily dose in the morning or evening. Dose adjustment, if required, should occur at intervals not less than 24 hours increment as tolerated to a recommended dose of 3 mg per day. Although effectiveness has been demonstrated in clinical studies of adolescent patients with schizophrenia at doses between 1 and 6 mg per day, no additional benefits were seen above 3 mg per day. And higher doses were associated with more side effects.
For bipolar mania, the usual dose should be administered once a day, starting with 2 mg to 3 mg per day. Dose adjustment should occur at intervals of not less than 24 hours and in dose increments or decrements of 1 mg per day. For paediatrics, the recommended dose is 1 mg per day.
For treating irritability associated with autistic disorder in paediatrics, the dosage of Risnia should be individualized as per the response and tolerability of the patient. The total daily dose of the medicine can be administered once a day, or half the total daily dose can be administered twice a day.
Take the tablet with water, do not attempt to break or chew the tablet. If you have any doubt regarding the medicine's usage, please talk to your doctor.
Precautions
Risnia 2 mg should not be used in cases of hypersensitivity reactions, anaphylactic reactions and angioedema, which have been observed in patients treated with Risnia tablets.
