Rozael EZ is used in adult patients to lower total cholesterol levels, bad cholesterol (LDL cholesterol), and fatty substances such as triglycerides in the bloodstream. In addition, it also increases good cholesterol or HDL cholesterol. Rozavel EZ contains two different active ingredients in a single tablet. One of the active ingredients is Rosuvastatin which belongs to the statin group of drugs; the other is Ezetimibe.

The combination drug reduces cholesterol levels by reducing the cholesterol absorbed in your digestive tract and the cholesterol your body makes by itself. For most people, high cholesterol does not produce any symptoms. However, if left untreated, blood vessels build up, causing them to narrow. These narrowed blood vessels can get blocked, stopping the blood supply to the heart or brain, leading to severe heart problems (heart attack and stroke). By lowering cholesterol levels, you can reduce your risk of developing heart problems.

The combination medicine is generally prescribed for patients whose cholesterol levels can’t be controlled by a cholesterol-lowering diet. However, it is equally important to stick to the cholesterol-lowering diet while receiving the cholesterol-lowering drug.  

How to use

Always take this medicine exactly as prescribed by a doctor. Check with your him if you have any doubts regarding the usage of the medicine. You should follow a low-cholesterol diet and exercise while taking combination medicines. The recommended dose for adults is one tablet a day. You can take t at any time of the day before or after consuming food. Swallow the tablet with a glass full of water. This combination drug is not suitable for beginning treatment. The treatment should begin only by giving the active ingredient separately, and after setting the appropriate doses, the switch to a combination of the appropriate strength is possible. Speak to your doctor if you want to discontinue treatment. Your cholesterol level might increase again if you stop taking medicine.

Precautions

Rozavel EZ should not be used if you are allergic to Rosuvastatin, Ezetimibe, or any of the ingredients of the medicine. Do not take this combination of medicine if you have liver disease, kidney impairment, or repeated unexplained muscle aches and pain. Do not take Rosuvastatin and Ezetimibe if you take a medicine called ciclosporin or are pregnant or breastfeeding. Using suitable contraceptive measures, women should avoid becoming pregnant while taking this combination of drugs. Also, it is important to inform your doctor before using Rozavel EZ if you have severe respiratory failure, suffer from hypothyroidism, or regularly drink large amounts of alcohol. While you are receiving this cholesterol-lowering drug, your doctor will monitor you closely  

Side effects

Stop taking Rozavel EZ and seek immediate medical help if you develop any of the following:

• Allergic reactions, such as swelling of the face, lips, tongue and throat, may cause breathing problems and swallowing issues.

• Unusual muscle pain, which persists for a longer duration. Rarely this can develop in life-threatening muscle damage known as rhabdomyolysis, which contributes to malaise, fever, and renal insufficiency.

• Muscle rupture

• Lupus (including joint disorders, rash, and effects on blood cells).

• Common side effects of Rosuvastatin/Ezetimibe include constipation, muscle pain, headache, diarrhoea, tiredness, dizziness, sickness, constipation, stomach ache, flatulence, and diabetes.
