Zathrin DT 100mg
Zathrin DT 100mg is commonly used to treat chest, sinus, and respiratory tract infections. It contains the active ingredient Azithromycin, which is an antibiotic medicine. The antibiotic drugs inhibit the growth of the infection-causing bacteria and stop them from multiplying. This disabled the spread of infection.
What are the Usage Instructions?
The dose depends on the type of infection and its severity your child has. Stick to the time and dose as prescribed by your doctor. If your child vomits within half an hour of taking medicine, give the same dose again. If you have any doubt, please speak to the doctor. The 100 mg tablet is usually given once daily, preferably in the morning. However, in the case of typhoid, Zathrin is to be given twice. It is best to give this antibiotic with food since children often have a sensitive stomach and could easily get stomach disturbances. Your child may begin to feel better within 3 to 5 days of regular dosing. However, it is still important to complete the full course of treatment and never discontinue treatment as that may worsen your child’s condition or increase the risk of reinfection. Some of the minor adverse effects associated with the use of Azithromycin DT include nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, and stomach pain. Usually, these unwanted effects subside once your child adapts to the treatment. Encourage your child to drink enough water to avoid developing diarrhea.
What are the Precautions to be taken?
The use of Zathrin DT 100mg is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to Azithromycin, erythromycin, and other antibiotics. Inform your child’s doctor if you have a previous history of kidney malfunction, liver impairment, heart problems and allergy to antibiotics. Discontinue treatment immediately if signs and symptoms of hepatitis like vomiting, weakness, and planes are observed. It is important to let the doctor know your child’s history to alter or plan your child’s treatment accordingly. Don’t panic if you forget to give Zathrin DT to your child. You can give the missed dose as soon as you remember, but at least twelve hours before the next scheduled dose is due.
